All Pinked Out

Morning bloggers!

I've been feeling a little 'pinked out' recently - the last 4 or 5 cards have all had their fair share of pink or red so I've used some more masculine papers for this weeks Freshly Made Sketch:

The papers are from a 6x6 Hampton Art pad which came in a big bunch of crafty goodies from Melinda Spinks a few months ago.   The cute tortoise is a Spellbinder stamp which I've coloured with Copics and Spectrum Noir markers.

Thanks for stopping by...have a wonderful week!

Masking...Take Two

G'day folks!

So I thought I'd have another go at the Addicted to CAS challenge of masking and combine it with the challenge over at Casology:

I cut 3 sizes of circles, then masked them with distress inks in varying shades of pink.  I'm not sure if I like it....it kind of reminds me of measles!

Since it's a one layer card I'm also going to enter it into  One Layer Simplicity  in which the challenge is blending. Heaps of blending on this one...I think I've got RSI in my wrist!

Have a great weekend!

Addicted to Masking

Afternoon all!

Just managed to squeeze a card into this week's CAS(E) This Sketch which I've combined with the current challenge over at Addicted to CAS:

I have a feeling I may be pushing it a bit with the sketch so the delete button my be hit by the design team! I've kept to the sketch, just on a smaller scale and I've flipped it - but you get the idea.  I masked the Waltzingmouse Camelias and coloured alternate blooms with Copics. I then die cut a couple of rectangles and matted them on black card stock for some definition.  I think it has a name this technique? Perhaps someone could enlighten me....

Anyway, time for school pick up - have a fabulous day!

Colour Q #280

Hello again bloggers!

Tuesday's rolled around in the blink of an eye which means it's time for the new challenge over at Colour Q. This week it's full of rich and luxurious hues - I can imagine a few Christmas cards will feature in the thumbnails this week:

You'll have to take my word that there is a hint of purple on this. It's kind of blended in with the Picked Raspberry distress ink but I can assure you it has been used. I'm not big on stencils - love the look but never quite know what to do with them.... I really should consider doing a class.

I double embossed the die cut dragonfly with gold embossing powder and added some sparkly glitter to the body. It's wings are cut from patterned paper and the sentiment is stamped in Seedless Preserves distress ink.

Make sure you check out all the inspiration the rest of the DT have provided!

Thanks for popping by,

Time Out for Time Out

Happy Valentines Day!

I've been meaning to have a go at a Time Out challenge for absolutely ages but Mr Linky always seems to close his doors before I get the chance.

This week it's a CASE challenge, based on this beautiful card by Kylie:

Isn't it gorgeous? I was tempted to copy it entirely but that's not really the point of a CASE challenge is it? I love the partial striped embossing and the tilted tag - instead of a tag I used the little Picot Panel die from Waltzingmouse, together with some die cut daisies from MFT.

Sadly, I'm still waiting for a dozen red roses to arrive at our house.....something tells me I'm in for a very long wait. Thank goodness I've a very sweet six year old son, who at this very minute is in the process of making me a Valentines Day card. I've taught him well. Unfortunately the same can't be said for the big bloke.

Colour Q #279

Hello folks!

It's that time again - a new colour combo to play with over at Colour Q. And it's definitely one of my favourite ones to date (didn't I say that last week?)

I love a bit of newsprint and I had the perfect W Plus 9 set to ink up - Defining Words. The poppies are from Penny Black and have been coloured with Copics - such a great stamp if you're a Copic novice like me. It has shading so you don't have to guess where the shadows are. It was a last minute decision to chomp off that corner...and I immediately regretted it. Don't you just hate that?

I'm determined to play along with some different challenges this year. I do seem to pick the same ones from week to week, largely because of the time factor. I'm playing along at Inkspirational for the first time with this card, where the theme is 'rose' (as in the colour.)

Hope you get the chance to play along this week - looking forward to seeing everyone's creations!

Playing with Watercolour

G'day bloggers!

How's your weekend going? I've been having a little play with the watercolour paints for the latest CASual Fridays challenge:

I do like watercolours,  but I have to say it's a technique that's definitely not my forte.  A masked sunset is just about my limit. I've had this die cut for about a year now - it was one of the first dies I cut using my Silhouette and it's been sat in my 'things I hope to use one day' box ever since.

Since I masked a big sun in the background I thought it would be eligible for the Casology challenge as well.  Far back in the recesses of my mind I seem to remember a winning card similar to this, but I only thought of it after I'd finished making this one. So much for originality eh?

CAS(E) This Sketch

Evening all!

Another quick card to show you for the latest CAS(E) This Sketch challenge:

I think horizontal lines are difficult to pull off on a card - I used Midnight Muse against a navy background so that it didn't overpower the main image. The lines have been stamped using Mama Elephant's Basic Borders and the lifesaver vest is from WMS's Ocean Bound.

Short but sweet! Thanks for stopping,

Colour Q #278

Evening folks!

Well so much for getting back into regular card making since the kidlets returned to school.  My back has kind of given out on me this week which makes bending over a crafty project rather difficult.  In fact I feel about 95 at the moment...which would be fine if I was anywhere near that age, but I've still about 55 years to go.

At least I've managed to make a very CAS card with this week's new Colour Q palette:

I love these colours...who would have thought pink, red and orange would look so good together? I've used nothing but stamps for this - one of the pretty sakura blooms from Waltzingmouse's Asian Gardens and a freebie from a Spellbinders Christmas set.  I didn't think it needed any other embellishment.

Make sure you pay a visit to the other very talented girls on the DT - there's so much inspiration this week, you'll want definitely want to get those ink pads out!

Happy stamping!
