Altenew Inspiration Challenge

Hello bloggers. Happy weekend and all that!

My mojo seems to have gone AWOL in the last few days which is always a source of frustration.  I've  tried to get it back by playing along with Altenew but when I mixed the purple and violet alcohol inks, they pooled together and formed blue.  Which means my card doesn't really look like any of the colours in the inspiration pic...

I've used Hennah Elements with a couple of polaroid die cuts and flourishes, one in white and the other in green.

I'm also popping it over to Simon Says Stamp's Wednesday challenge which is Anything Goes!

Happy stamping!

MFT Colour Challenge

Hi again,

Second post of the day for the MFT colour challenge:

I used a few Copics to create the background and added one of the cute little elves from Santa's Elves.

Happy stamping!

Papertrey Ink - September Blog Hop

Hello again,

With the coming of Autumn in the Northern hemisphere there's lots of Autumnal themed challenges out there including this month's PTI blog hop challenge:

I used Watercolor Wonder and Autmn Abundance for my card. I was inspired by the vivid oranges and rustic browns and I've added a splash of embossed gold for a richer feel.  The colours are quite similar to those over at Time Out so it's going over there too and I used the sketch from CAS(E) This Sketch.

Happy hopping!

CASology #313

Hello,

Here's an ultra quick card I did for CASology where the cue card is 'dress:'

I stamped this elegant dress from Waltzingmouse, smothered it in Glossy Accents and added a whole heap of sparkly glitter, cut it out and popped it on a piece of navy cardstock. Told you it was quick!

Happy stamping!

Bling it On!

Gday all, happy weekend to you!

I love Kim's sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches and put it to good use by making three Christmas cards using CAS-ual Friday's Snowy Sayings. They have a sequin challenge happening at the moment so I added some PPP clear sequins to the snowflakes:

Simon Says Stamp's Wednesday challenge is to use some bling - I think sequins are classed as bling aren't they, so off it goes over there too!

Happy stamping!

Tweet Tweet

Hello, hello,

This is probably one of the quickest cards I've ever done for Addicted to CAS and Less is More:

The code word 'tweet' made me think of Waltzingmouse's Asian Gardens which hasn't seen ink for far too long - it was always one of my favourite WMS sets.  Since it has the pretty sakura blosssoms I knew it would be good to use for Less is More's one layer challenge to use florals.

Thanks for popping by!

MFT - Clean and Simple Birthday Challenge

Hello again,

I created another card for MFT's Superstar challenge. Note to self: read the challenge rules! I hadn't realised you could only enter one card per category. Not to worry, there's still The Birthday Project Challenge which also happens to be a clean and simple theme, so I'll pop it over there instead:

I used the now retired Die-namics Accent-It word die, a Stitched Mod Rectangle Die and Basic Shapes Circle Stencil. I covered the word die with Glossy Accents and added lots of clear glitter so it looks extra sparkly!

I've also added a good scatter of sequins so I'm linking up with CAS-ual Friday's latest challenge to use sequins.

Happy weekend!

MFT Card Design Superstar

Hello folks,

MFT are holding their 2018 Card Design Superstar challenge - I've made this card for the Clean and Simple challenge:

So what's your creative process when making a card? One thing I never do before I start is look at cards online made with the same set. That way I find I'm more likely to think outside the box and try and do something a little more unusual.  I normally colour these Funky Flowers with Copics but this time I thought I'd just emboss them using copper embossing powder and colour in some random blooms with Perfect Pearls. Clean and simple doesn't necessarily mean white cardstock does it, so I used black to make it look a bit more dramatic. The sentiment's from Essential Sentiments.

It's only after I make the card that I have a sneaky peeky online and see how other people have used the set - and I found this one by Kimberley. Looks like I've cased it doesn't it? So much for being original eh?

Simon Says Stamp are having a 'pop it up' challenge over on their Wednesday challenge blog - since I've used dimensional tape to pop up some of those blooms I'm linking up over there too!

Have a wonderful day!

Less is More #379

Hi folks,

Less is More's current challenge is black, white and one other colour.  As you can see I picked yellow:

I used PTI's Doodlie-Do - I white embossed some of the blooms on black and stamped the rest with black against yellow cardstock. Very easy!

Since I've done nothing but stamping I'm also popping it over to Simon Says Stamp's Wednesday challenge which is to use stamped images.

Have a fabulous day!

CFC# 207 Colour Challenge - Mint and Neutral

Hello inky folk,

Here's a quick card for CAS-ual Fridays which is a colour challenge featuring mint and any neutral:

I wasn't sure if gold could be classed as a neutral but as some of the DT have used it I figured I could get away with it. I used my favourite CF set of all - Mon Ami (currently on sale!) which I embossed in gold and coloured in Copics. I set them against a very simple gesso stencilled background to add some CAS interest and texture.

Happy stamping!

AAA Sketch Challenge

Hello again,

I'm still playing around with those alcohol inks - they are seriously addictive! I splashed out on some Yupo and this time blew the ink around with a straw which created a completely different effect:

I used Pinata alcohol inks which are really bright so less is more I reckon. This week's AAA sketch was perfect - I added a pewter embossed butterfly from Stamplorations and a WMS sentiment and it was all done.

Happy stamping!

Playing with Alcohol Inks

Hello bloggers!

Can you believe I've been playing with paper for about 12 years and I've never used alcohol inks?
I bought 4 colours and had a play. As I already had some glossy card stock,  I thought I'd see what the effect was like on that before splashing out on Yupo as well:

I love how it turned out but having watched a few You Tube tutorials I'm assuming the ink will merge in a different way if I use the Yupo. At least it gives me the excuse to go out and buy some....and naturally I now want every colour under the sun!

Anyway, I thought this week's MFT sketch was the perfect way to use these brightly coloured strips. I brought the strips further down the card than in the sketch and used nothing but Dienamics, although I think both of these sets are now retired - Blueprints 24 and Dienamics Accent It.

Since it's a very CAS birthday card I'm also popping it over to their CAS Birthday Project Challenge.

Thanks for calling by!
