CAS Sunday

Hello folks, happy weekend to you!

A couple of very CAS cards for a few different challenges - the first is for Addicted to CAS where the code word is 'daisy'. I've also been inspired by Time Out's Home Sweet home challenge and drew from the gorgeous palette of neutral whites, blue candle, distressed wood and the vase of daisies sat on the table. I stamped the Paper Smooches paint strip die with MFT's Wood Plank and coloured it using Weathered Wood distress ink. The embossed corner came about entirely by accident when I grabbed two lots of card stock by mistake and tried to die cut them both. It left an embossed image on the bottom piece which actually looked better than the die cut - love a happy accident!

My second card is for Paper Smooches' Anything Goes challenge - I've used Lovestruck with the colours from Color Throwdown. I gave the little hearts a liberal covering of Glossy Accents which has added a raised, shiny layer of texture too. These sweet little arrows are just under 2 inches in length so I'm also popping this one over to Less is More where the recipe is to use small stamps which are less than 2 inches in diameter.

Thanks for stopping by!

MFT Camp Create 2019 - Last Two!

Hello again,

I finally finished all 5 challenges for MFT's Camp Create so I'm feeling very pleased with myself!  Day 4's challenge is to create a slider card - definitely a challenge for me as I haven't got any of the MFT slider die-namics:

I saw lots of different tutorials for slider cards on Pinterest and Youtube but they all looked way too complicated so I used a die from my stash and fixed the piggy from Hog Heaven on to a large brad, allowing it to slide over the clouds.  The cloudy background was created using the Cloud Stencil. I'm so glad I invested in this as you can whip up a cloudy background within a couple of minutes...definitely one for the MFT wishlist if you haven't bought one already!

I'm also popping this one over to CASology where the cue card is 'shimmer.' It's got those shimmery, sparkly wings and lots of not so white space!

My final card is for challenge 5 - to use glitter on your card. This time I've used PI Butterfly Kisses and given her some sparkly wings using clear glitter. I've used a Stitched Rectangle Frame  and a Stitched Scallop Basic Edge, white embossed using Wood Plank Background. There's so many layers on this one, I'm surprised it doesn't topple over!

Hope you have time to get inky this week - thanks for popping by!

MFT - Camp Create 2019

Hello fellow inkers,

Its Camp Create time over at My Favourite Things  and I'm hoping to play along with all five challenges. So far I've managed to whip up these three cards, the first being for the watercolour challenge:

Like Stephanie I used some Ken Oliver Colorburst pigment powders to create a beach background and added this sweet little Polynesian girl from Polynesian Paradise. I framed the scene with a Stitched Rectangle Frame, another one of my MFT obsessions!

For the Remarkable Resist challenge below, I white embossed Marble Background, blended over some distress inks and added one of the dragonflies from Fluttering Friends. The marble background is so busy I kept it very simple and white embossed the dragonfly on to black card stock instead of colouring it with Copics. The angled corner has been cut using one of the Stitched Scallop Basic Edges.

Lastly I made shaker card  using a Rectangle Shaker Pouch with matching die-namics. The stamp and sentiment are from  PI Holiday Cheer. I had a complete brain snap when doing this card so got some sketch inspiration from the latest sketch challenge which was perfect for colour blocking with patterned paper from the Sweet Celebration Paper Pack.

Well I'm all MFT'd out for now but hopefully I've got just enough creative juice to manage all 3 challenges.

Happy stamping!

Shimmering Giraffe

Hello fellow inkers!

I've been away for a few days so not much in the way of card making these school holidays. Whilst away I caught up with a lovely friend of mine who used to be an avid card maker (in fact it's partly her fault I've acquired this inky obsession) but has now developed a fixation with mixed media. So she presented me with a whole heap of stamps she no longer uses. I really felt all Christmases had come at once!

One of the sets she gave me is Altenew's Geometric Menagerie which I've used to create a card for 3
challenges:

I've taken this month's colours at Altenew and made a very CAS card for AAA Cards (maxi white space) and CASology's new challenge where the cue word is 'shimmer.' I've coloured the giraffe with Copics and added some clear glitter to some of the triangles but yet again I lament that the glitter really hasn't been done justice in the photo!

Thanks for popping by!

Time Out Guest Designer - Take Two

Hello again,

Hope you're having an inky week. Have you had time to play along at Time Out yet? Their latest challenge, for which I thrilled to be guest designing, is a quote: 'With freedom, flowers and the moon, who could not be happy?' by Oscar Wilde:

For this week's card I stuck to a flowery theme and coloured this pretty PTI rose. The background panel has been stamped and white embossed using a script stamp from W Plus 9. A couple of embossed and patterned paper strips and it turned into quite the layered card!

Hope you have time to join in this week!

MFT Colour and Sketch Challenges

Hello, happy weekend to you!

I've combined the challenge colours and sketch over at MFT to create this card - I'm not a big fan of purple but mixed with the red and coral, I really like it. It's definitely a combo I'll use again:

I used Garden Flourish for my background, stamped in Versamark and Funky Flowers which I don't think are available any more. The sentiment is from Bring Out the Sunshine.

Time Out - Guest Designer

Hello folks!

I'm so thrilled to be guest designer over at one of my favourite challenge blogs this week - Time Out. They have an 'inspired by words' challenge for you to get your inky teeth into - 'with freedom, flowers and the moon, who could not be happy?' As it's Independence Day over in the US, it's a very appropriate quote from Oscar Wilde:

So many directions you could go with this - I chose to make a card featuring this sweet little bunny from CAS-ual Fridays Somebunny with a scattering of stars from Your Next Stamp.

This week's challenge is sponsored by Catherine Pooler so that gives you even more of an excuse to join in the fun. Make sure you go and check out her website and pop over to the DT's blogs for some Independence Day inspiration!

Thanks for popping by,

Seeing More Spots!

Hello again,

I've another card for you today featuring spots, this time for Less is More which has a one layer challenge to use spots:

It's been a while since I inked up Whimsy Stamps' Happy Hello - it feature a larger, spot block stamp so I used it to create a rainbow background and embossed the PTI sentiment over the top with some holographic, glitter embossing powder. It really does look quite sparkly in real life but doesn't show up in the photo.

Short and sweet today! Happy stamping!

Seeing Spots! for MFT!

Hello folks,

I've made a very simple shaker card using the sketch from MFT:

Instead of putting the sentiment over the main shape, I draped over this sweet little leopard from Lovable Leopards and added the sentiment to the bottom.  I'm not a big fan of making shaker cards - I find them so fiddly and the shaker bits always end up sticking to the window of the card which really gives me the irrits!! So when I last put an order in with MFT,  I invested in their Rectangle Shaker Window and Frame Die with matching Pouches and what a difference it made. It will be shaker cards all the way from now on....

Happy stamping!
