CAS-ual Fridays Colour Challenge

Hi bloggers,

CAS-ual Fridays is having a colour challenge this week using coral, aqua and grey:

I've used Bravo for my one layer card card.  I love the font on this set and it's so easy to make a quick congrats card by fitting all the words together. I've also used part of a border stamp from Bold Wishes - it was the perfect size to fill in the gap on the right hand side.  The bold 5 has lots of large dots on it which I've covered in some Pretty Pink Posh clear droplets to add some texture.

I've been inspired by Jenni's card over at Muse - such a clever design with a variety of thank you sentiments.  I'm also popping it over to Time Out where the theme is Celebrations with the Optional Twist of One Layer Cards.  I think I can get away with it - isn't is about celebrating an achievement? Or am I pushing it a bit far?!

Have a wonderful weekend!

My Favorite Things Camp Create Day 5 and Bonus Challenge: Glitzy Glitter and Dry Embossing

Hello folks,

I've been in a card making frenzy over the last few days and managed to play along in all 5 challenges for My Favorite Things Camp Create. I've even sneaked in a card for the bonus challenge which is dry embossing.

First up is Stephanie's challenge to use glitter on our cards. Her video explaining how is here:

I used MFT's Die-namics Sunflower die for my card. I have a feeling this may no longer be available at the MFT store but it's always been one of my favourites.  I've got heaps of use out of my Bundles of Blossoms background stamp - I love using it with white embossing powder on a white background as I've done here.  The sentiment is from Polynesian Paradise.

As a bonus technique, Stephanie also included a video on dry embossing.  I used the previous glitter
technique on Die-namics Upsy-Daisy and embossed a stitched frame from Die-namics Blueprints 24
on to the gold circle. I've also embossed a stitched frame from the same set around the edge of the card. The black flag has Bundles of Blossoms embossed in black embossing powder too.

Well that's it for MFT cards this week - I've really enjoyed joining in with all the challenges. Hope you had the time to get creative!

My Favorite Things Camp Create: Day 4 - Sensational Sliders

Hello folks,

Day 4 of MFT's Camp Create and this time Stephanie has made a Sensational Slider card which you can see here:

I made a very simple penny slider card - although since we don't have pennies in Australia, I used  a couple of Aussie 5c pieces to create the slider.  The background has been done with Color Bursts - it's a little bit psychedelic and could probably do with being toned down a little! The rocket, moon and star are from MFT's Space Explorer

Only one more day to go - enjoy your weekend!

My Favorite Things Camp Create: Day 3 - Spectacular Shakers

Hi bloggers,

It's day 3 of My Favorite Things Camp Create and the technique today is shaker cards. Here's the video and here's my version:

I've used Warmest Wishes and added some sequin snow. I completely misjudged the number of sequins and wish I'd used more...maybe we can say the snow's melting...  I used my Silhouette to create the frame and then embossed it to add some subtle texture.

I always struggle with shaker cards - it doesn't seem to matter what I do, some of them still get stuck along the sides and refuse to budge!

Enjoy your weekend!

My Favorite Things Camp Create - Day 2: Remarkable Resist

Hello again,

I'm attempting to do all the techniques in MFT's latest Camp Create challenge but I'm already behind so here's hoping I get the chance to play with some ink this weekend.   For the second technique, Stephanie has done the resist technique using watercolour paper. You can see her video here:

I used  MFT's Bundles of Blossoms for my background. Despite being so busy, it's actually very delicate so I throught an Adorable Elephant, coloured with Copics, would suit. I used a pale pink watercolour wash - the die cuts are from MFT's Blueprints 24.

Thanks for stopping,

My Favorite Things - Camp Create Day 1: Wonderful Watercolour

 G'day folks!

I'm joining in with MFT's Camp Create this week and their first challenge is a Wonderful Watercolour challenge. Stephanie created a star filled,  watercoloured,  space background which you can see here:

As you can see, I followed her instructions completely with no creative diversion at all! I knew it was the perfect background for MFT's sweet Space Explorer and I've paired it with one of their accent word dies, cut in black and matted on white card stock so that it pops against the colour.

Hope you too get to join in with them! Thanks for popping by,

The Card Concept #75

Hello bloggers!

Loving the pic over at The Card Concept this week - there was so much to draw inspiration from:

In fact I think I was inspired by pretty much everything: the black and cream chairs for my background which I recreated using a stencil and texture paint,  the silver on the mirror, the splash of pink from the flowers and the kraft colour from the walls...the list goes on.  I think I'll pop this one into the classy and elegant category!

Enjoy your day!

Stampin' Up Revival

Hello, hello,

I was looking through my stash today and came across a Stampin' Up background stamp I bought years ago called 'On the Spot.' I's such a pretty stamp,  I really should have used it more:

I gold embossed it on a black background, then added the SU butterfly coloured with Copics.  It's such a simple sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches, I thought I could use it for this week's Casology challenge too. The cue word is 'insect.' AAA Cards are having a big 3rd birthday challenge this week so I'm also popping my card over there. Happy birthday AAA!

Thanks for popping over,

Farewell Mojo Monday

Happy Friday to you!

After a whopping 500 challenges, Mojo Monday's coming to an end - such a shame. It's one of the first sites I turn to for some sketch inspiration, even if I don't have the time to join in each week.

So I couldn't possibly let the final challenge go by without making a card and in true Mojo Monday style it's a pretty, layered sketch, perfect for showcasing those dust-gathering patterned papers:

Speaking of patterned papers, CAS-ual Fridays latest challenge is to use exactly that - patterned papers on your card. I've used some old MME papers I've had lying around for years,  together with a Papertrey Ink Stamp from their Autumn Abundance set.

I've been influenced by Time Out's challenge too - they have a Home Sweet Home pic to draw inspiration from so I've used similar colours and a floral theme.

Hope you have the time to give Mojo Monday one last hurrah - thanks for all the inspration Julee!

Freshly Made Sketch #290

Hello, happy weekend to you,

Freshly Made Sketches have a really different sketch this week to play with - I used the colours from Your Next Stamp's Sketch and Colour Challenge and my favourite YNS set Keepin' It Reel

For the background I embossed the dots from Cool Backgrounds - these background builders are about an inch square so it took quite a while to finish the whole piece. Worth it though - I love the texture it's created!

Thanks for stopping by,
