Colour Q #273

G'day folks!

Well it's almost time for the big man to arrive - the presents are wrapped, the in-laws have descended and the kids are so excited you'd think they'd been fed nothing but sugar for dinner.  But despite all the mayhem I've been able to sneak in a bit of crafty time for this week's Colour Q palette:

I used the sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches but replaced the circle with a big bloom from Doodlebug Designs, coloured with Copics.  I really think colouring with Copics should be prescribed as an alternative therapy for stress...there's something about it that I find so relaxing - or perhaps that was the glass of white wine I had at the same time.

The good news is that we're going to have a little break for a couple of weeks at Colour Q,  so you have until Monday January 5th to have a play with the colours.

Unless a Christmas miracle happens and I'm able to make a card in the next 24 hours, this will be my last post for a few days.  Hope you have a wonderful, happy and safe Christmas - may your stockings be choc full of crafty goodness!

Cheers,

Claire x

CASE-ing for CAS(E) This Sketch

Morning all!

Love the quirky sketch over at CAS(E) This Sketch - it gave me the perfect opportunity to CASE a tag from one of the Stretch Your Stamps classes by Laura Bassen.

She embossed a partial image of a flower onto white card stock, then blended a beautiful, bright background with distress inks over the top and added a white on black embossed sentiment.   So simple but really effective - all with the added bonus of taking about 10 minutes! Don't you just love that?

Happy stamping!

Colour Q #255

Hello blogging friends!

Tuesday's rolled around once more so it's new Colour Q time....where has the week gone?  Oh that's right, it's been washed away in the torrential rain we've been having here in Sydney.  After months of brilliant blue skies and warm sun,  we're now experiencing payback in the form of non-stop windy, wet and soggy days.

This type of weather seems to play havoc with my mojo. I have to admit I drew a complete blank when I saw this week's colours so I had a bit of help with the latest Retro Sketch:

I stamped a typed background with W Plus 9 and then stamped the Doodlebug Designs bloom over the top, used a Copic to colour some of the petals and added a resin centre.  The notebook strip was cut with my Cameo and the patterned papers came from a 6x6 Authentique pad - I coloured one of them with the same Copic marker so that it matched the petals on the flower.

Well, let's hope the mojo comes flowing back in the next couple of days...hope you can get some happy stamping going!

Thanks for popping by,

Claire x

Balsa Wood Colouring

G'day Bloggers!

So I'm still picking up some new techniques from Online Card Classes Stretch Your Stamps 2 - this time we had a tutorial by Debby, which showed how to stamp on balsa wood and colour it with Copics.  I was so tempted to completely copy her card - it really is gorgeous, but here's my version:

I have so few Copics that I'm always very limited with colours - again, I attempted to blend a Kaisercraft blender pen with some very light pink Copics but I found that they wouldn't blend completely, partly because the Kaisercraft colour was so vibrant - it kind of bled into the wood.  I think next time I'll use lighter Copics only.  Still like it though!

Short but sweet today - thanks for popping over!
