MFT Sketch and Colour Challenge

Hello again!

The folks at MFT have given us an interesting sketch to play with for their latest challenge - I was amazed by what the DT came up with...such clever takes! The funny thing is I knew immediately just what I wanted to do but completely struggled with the execution:

My plan was for the whole card front to be covered but the proportions of the triangles just didn't work with the sentiment so in the end I cut it all down and made a CAS version of what I originally had in mind. Using the closest colours to the colour challenge I could find, I sponged some distress inks and stamped over with Lavish Lilies in brown ink. The sentiment's from Essential Sentiments and I framed it with a Stitched Frame. 

I can't help feeling something's missing but I tried all manner of butterflies and flowers and none of it worked. To top it off my husband asked me why I had a big 'Y' in the middle of my card! 😂

Altenew - July Inspiration Challenge

Hello inkers,

It's been a bit slow on the card making front but with the kids back at school I finally got to play with  some new Altenew goodies that have been patiently waiting for me to swipe ink over them:

I have to say I struggled a bit with these colours - I think it's the blue and green. Isn't it blue and green that shouldn't be seen? Anyway, nothing like new stuff to get you inspired - I used 3 different sets for this one. The blooms are from Blissful Blossoms set against one of the stamps from Halftone Squares and the sentiment's from Leaf Clusters. Despite the initial blank I like how it turned out!

MFT Colour Challenge 192

Hello inkers,

Very quick post with a card using MFT's latest challenge colours.  I'm not at home at the moment so have very limited materials - add to that no camera except my i-phone and no lightbox and it's one very bad photo!

 

I've used Santa's Elves and Selfie Square Die-namics. 

This one's also popping over to AAA Cards for their Anything Goes challenge - I've done half the twist and made a Christmas card without the pets!

Fusion Meets Sunday Stamps

 Hello inkers, happy weekend!

Love the colours over at Fusion this week - not ones I'd normally put together but they're so dramatic I just had to have a play:

I've combined them with the sketch at Sunday Stamps but made a landscape rather than portrait card -the PTI Lovely Layers bloom was looking a bit squashed otherwise! The sentiment's Waltzingmouse and that gorgeous embossed background is a new EB from Altenew - I can't believe the amount of detail on it....you could almost just plonk it on a card front without anything else!

Tropical Wishes

Hello folks!

It's been a while since I played along at Freshly Made Sketches - I love their latest layered sketch although I've used some poetic licence and altered the position of the sentiment:

I've also gone with the colours from the Color Throwdown, the tropical theme from Time Out and taken some flowery/colourful inspiration from Just Us Girls which has a very tropical photo for their challenge. The whole card has been made with goodies from MFT.

One Layer Blooms

Hello again,

My Covid brain must have seriously affected me as I've actually chosen to make a one layer card - both The Paper Players and Less is More have one layer challenges this week with the added condition of one image over at LIM.  It's perhaps my penance for having Neil from the LIM DT very gently remind me that I should be using less layers for the LIM challenge last week:

 

So no layers in sight on this one - I used black card stock for a change as white space doesn't have to be white does it?  I silver embossed this Blooming Stamplorations stamp and coloured it with pencils - the sentiment's from Altenew.

Altenew June Inspiration Challenge - Take Two

 Hello again inkers,

With some lovely new Altenew products to play with I had to make another card using the colours from the June Inspiration challenge. You can catch the first one here:

This time I used Handpicked Bouquet Stamp and Die Bundle, coloured with Copics. For the background I used the Beach Towel Stripes Stencil with Embossing Paste. I love how it turned out and it was so therapeutic swiping the soft paste over the stencil and trying to get it as smooth as possible! The sentiment's from Sentiments Strips.

The question is, can I get a third one in before the challenge closes?!
