Bored bored bored

Hi Scrappers,

Haven't felt like scrapping in the last few days. I don't think I could find an original idea if it came and whacked me in the head at the moment. I seem to resort to the same set of stamps and the same style every time and I'm getting bored! I've done a quick card for the Play Date Cafe challenge again, just to try and kick start that mojo. I say 'quick' but I decided to do some stamping on gesso. It seemed to take hours to dry and, looking at the card, you can barely tell. I could have just stamped on to white cardstock and saved myself a whole heap of time and mess!

The colours for this week are:

In other words plum, pear and mouldy cheese! Here's my version -

I've used some plum coloured ink for the flowers, together with some yellow (pears go a bit yellow don't they?). I've also alternated using plum card and 'mouldy' coloured patterned paper for the butterflies (make that MME!)

You might be able to see the gesso on the close up a bit better. Not really worth it was it?

Oh well, let's hope that mojo reappears.

Happy scrapping everyone and thanks for stopping by,

Claire xx

Play date...again!

Hi Scrappers,

Well, the school holidays are almost over - hope you've managed to stay sane throughout them. My oldest boy is about to start Kindy next week so I'm bracing myself for his first day. Apparently there will be tissues available for the parents in the school hall, although I do sometimes wonder if that's for the tears of relief because we get a break at long last! Oops - am I really that bad a Mum?

Anyway, moving on - here's my Play Date Cafe card for this week. The colour combo was:

In other words - slate, bark, moss and burlap. Now I'm still not 100% sure what burlap is - in some pics it looks like a very pale pink, in others a kind of natural, creamy hue. I went for the cream -

I used some Cosmo Cricket papers with a Studio Calico mask and some Mister Huey's mist. Talk about being organized - it's not actually hubbie's birthday until October. Maybe I should marry someone else in the meantime....

Happy scrapping everyone and thanks for stopping by,

Cheers,

Little Liar

Hi Scrappers,

Another quick one tonight with the latest MME challenge. Yes I realise I told a wee little lie on one of my previous posts and swore blind that I wouldn't use any more Stella and Rose stuff for a while. It just kind of popped on to the card!

Here's the sketch -

And here's what I came up with -

The theme for this one was 'new' so I made a new home card for my cousin and family who've just moved to Germany. It's years since I used that Cuttlebug house die - it was one of the very first things I bought when I started this (very expensive) hobby. I also used my new Spellbinders die - yes, I actually invested in two more sets of Spellbinders...it's only taken me about 2 years!

Oops - wasn't such a quick post after all....

Hope you all have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by,
Cheers,

Kraft it Up

Hi Scrappers,

It seems ages since I did a Kraft it Up challenge so I thought I'd give this months a go. This time it's a colour challenge -

My two little rugrats had great fun at the beach in Port Stephens recently - for some reason they found chucking piles of sand at the rocks highly amusing! It made for some great photo ops and it just so happens that their t-shirts went perfectly with the KIT colour challenge! Don't you just love it when that happens?

Happy Scrapping and thanks for stopping by,

New Scrapville Sketch

Hi Scrappers,

The new Scrapville sketches have gone up on the blog so take a look and get that mojo going -

Introducing our beautiful little niece, Carys - it was such a lovely change to use some flowers and some pink! For the card I used a Bo Bunny stamp with some white pigment ink against black cardstock. I partially coloured the image with some markers and added a bit of ribbon and bling.

Hope you get a chance to take part in the sketch challenge!

Cheers and thanks for stopping by,

Another play date..

Hi Scrappers,

Another quick card tonight - again at the Play Date Cafe. I figure if I can enter the challenge each week I'll always have a card handy and won't have to rush making them at the last minute. This week the colours are burgundy, plum and gold. Not my usual colours and certainly not ones I would think to put together -

It's Valentines Day in a few weeks so I thought these colours would suit this type of card. Unfortunately it looks more blue on the photo but it is kind of plum. Honest!

Each year I have to make 2 cards - one for hubby and one for my mate Michael. Michael and I have known each other all our lives. At age 6 we agreed we would get married - obviously that didn't happen but we've been sending Valentines cards to each other every year for about the last 30 years (although he was a bit miffed I missed last year!) Luckily our spouses are ok with this - so okay that's it's normally Michael's wife who buys mine!
Anyway - look out for another Valentines card soon....

That's all folks, thanks for stopping by,
Cheers,

Play Date Cafe Challenge

Hi Scrappers,

This year is the year for 40th birthdays for me - including my own - so look out for heaps of 40th birthday cards in the near future. Here's one I've done for the latest Play Date Cafe Challenge. So love this challenge site, although I've never actually taken part until now. I think I spend way too much of my time drooling over all the beautiful cards, rather than attempting to make my own!
The colours for this week are -

The challenge is to make a card using mint, vanilla and juniper as your core colours -

I've stamped my own patterned paper using a Hero Arts stamp and woven some strips with some patterned paper from Papertrey Ink. Perfect for the colours in this challenge luckily!

Ok, that's one down and about another 20 to go.

Cheers and thanks for stopping by,

Scrapville layout and card sketches

Hi Scrappers,

Just a quick post to show you the layout and card I did for the Scrapville December/January sketch challenges. Take a peek at the blog to see the sketches. I've used part of my MME Fun Day pack for this and added some Crate Paper and a few bits and bobs from my stash-

I've used a Cuttlebug die and embossing folder for the card - it's actually an engagement card for my brother...looks like we've got another family wedding to go to in the UK again. Let's hope we don't end up in hospital with the kids for this one!

Happy scrapping and thanks for stopping by,

Scrapville challenge

Hi Scrappers,

Well I hope you all had a great New Years Eve - whether you did that by drinking heaps of alcohol or by remaining sober and falling asleep before midnight!
I've been busy using my gorgeous pack from Scrapville. For January we get to play with the My Minds Eye Fun Day pack. It's full of the new MME kraft range - check out the blog to see the pack's contents and to see how the rest of the CT have used all the products. Here's the layout and card I've been working on -

Hopefully I'll be back soon to show you what I've done with the card sketch.

Have a safe and happy 2012!

Cheers,
Claire xx
