CAS Creations

Hello folks,

A couple of CAS cards tonight - the first is for Less is More's dreaded one layer challenge - to use flowers. Yet again I despair of my one layer skills...one layer cards just look so....flat.  I used CAS-ual Friday's Truth Is (now retired) - there's a little stamp in that set which hasn't seen ink so I created a rainbow pattern and added the sentiment over the top.

I was also inspired by the pic over at Fusion featuring a rainbow festooned kiddo, complete with rainbow coloured flowers:

My second card is for CAS on Friday which has a colour challenge happening, featuring orange and teal.  This time I coloured an MFT butterfly with copics and added a stamped frame and sentiment from Waltzingmouse.

Hope you get the time to get inky this weekend!

Happy stamping!

Freshly made Sketch - Take 2!

Hello folks,

I've been on a bit of a roll this week and made another card using the latest Freshly Made Sketch - it's a lot simpler than the last one and I was totally inspired by the picture at The Card Concept:

I love the teal and orange in the photo so I created a stamped background panel using Whimsy Stamp's Happy Everything. Inspired by the tan footstool in the pic, I placed it on a pre-printed craft panel (some very old Stampin' Up card stock) and stamped the bold CAS-ual Friday's sentiment in navy, like the striped throw on the chair. I'd say it's clean and layered!

Happy stamping!

Freshly Made Sketch #473

 Hello again,

More watercolour practise, this time using Clearly Besotted's Beautiful Friend, inspired by the pretty sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches and the colours at The Color Throwdown:

This is just the kind of sketch I like with lots of layers to play with. I've edged the front panel with some gold washi tape from Altenew and embossed the middle panel using an Altenew embossing folder. The background has been stamped using MFT's Wood Plank.

Thanks for stopping by,

Claire

Hearts Galore!

Hello folks,

Lots of love related challenges out there in blog land at the moment. I've combined a few of them to make this CAS anniversary card:

I used a very old PTI set which is probably one of the first ones I bought called Heart Prints. I stamped them in varying shades of pinks and reds, die cut them and matted them against a gold heart underneath. You can't really tell from the pic but I've randomly used dimensional tape to pop some of them up. It's added some subtle dimension to a very simple layout.

This one's going over to Addicted to Stamps and More where the theme is 'any occasion', Addicted to CAS with the code word 'hearts', and Paper Players which has a colour challenge happening. I had no idea I had so many pinks and reds in my ink collection! Lastly, I've been inspired by the pretty image of patterned hearts over at Time Out - it immediately reminded me that I hadn't inked up this set in a long time!

Happy stamping!

From My Gnome to Yours

Hello, happy weekend to you!

I've combined both the sketch and colour challenges from MFT to create one card using Hanging With My  Gnomies:

The strips of patterned paper are from the Sweet Celebration paper pack!

Flowers and Chocolate

Hello inkers,

I've made a couple of CAS cards this week - the first is for Altenew's Inspiration Challenge - I have to admit I struggled a bit with the colours and went for a less is more approach.  I very lightly stencilled a background using the Grid Stencil in violet ink and added the yellow Peony from Beautiful Day

I'm still in practise mode with the watercolouring - it's improving but I find it so difficult to create shadows with watercolour mediums.  I either seem to use way too much water or not enough!

My second card is for Less is More with a challenge to use the colour 'chocolate'. Can you believe it's their tenth birthday?

I didn't find this one easy either - I find the colour brown less than inspirational, particularly when it's on it's own and can't be combined with another hue! I coloured a chocolate cupcake from MFT with Copics, masked off a side panel using their Happy Birthday Background and semi cut a circle at the side to create a bit of interest. It all looked a bit plain so I added a thin strip of chocolate coloured card stock to the right hand edge. I can't help thinking it would look better in pink!

Hope you get the time to get your hands inky this weekend!

MFT Sketch #526

Hello folks,

We were away last weekend for Australia Day so I took my Copics with me and did a bit of colouring. I love these sweet Old Friends,  particularly the little man on the right. I think he really looks like my father-in-law (minus the moustache!):

I masked off an oval and the bottom half of the shape so that I could create a stencilled brick background, then masked off the top before blending the ground/grass. So, I'm throwing it into the Just Us Girls challenge as well, where the Wild Card week theme is 'masking.' A scattering of enamel dots and it was done.

Happy stamping!
