Stamping Small

Hello inkers!

Less Is More's soon to finish challenge is to use more stamps whilst still keeping to the CAS theme:

I have so many teeny, tiny stamps that haven't ever seen a smudge of ink and sit in my stash unused and unloved as I'm never quite sure what to do with them. So I reached for W Plus 9's Fresh Cut Florals and stamped lots of really tiny flowers and leaves randomly on some card stock. I put a layer of soft blue distress ink over the top,  then die cut 'hello' from the stamped area and and added a thick layer of Glossy Accents. After masking a strip underneath, using the same set of stamps, I put it against a white embossed background, then added a die cut edge along the top. The sentiment is from Waltzingmouse.

I'm also popping it over to a couple of other challenges - Colour Throwdown's latest palette and Time Out's inspiration pic. I took my cue from the pinks and blues in the picture and the pretty edged, white plate hanging on the wall.

Thanks for popping by,

Claire

Have a Norse Day

G'day folks!

I saw the colours of this week's MFT Colour Challenge and immediately thought of Viking which I think is now retired:

Using this week's Sketch Challenge as inspiration, I cut some very thin balsa wood with an MFT flag die and added some strips stamped in Wood Plank Background (also retired.)

Not quite sure what he'd think of his peach coloured accessories....

Happy stamping!

Paper Smooches Colour Story

Hello again.,

I feel like I'm on a bit of a roll with the card making at the moment. This time I've made a very CAS card for Paper Smooches' colour challenge:

I've used the very first Paper Smooches set I ever bought which is Little Fella (no longer available).  I don't think I've done a colour challenge using so many colours but they're definitely all on there - just in very small amounts!

Thanks for stopping by,

Claire

CAS(E) This Sketch # 360

Hello and happy weekend to you!

I seem to have a thing about corners at the moment and made another card based on AAA's current challenge - to use one corner only. This week's sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch is the perfect inspiration:

zx

I've obviously flipped the sketch and I have to admit, may be pushing it a bit with the corner thing. The Color Bursts bled out more than I wanted against the watercolour paper so haven't quite kept to the corner. That's the problem with watercolour and Color Bursts - there's absolutely no control!

I stamped a sky of stars using a starburst stamp from Your Next Stamp and added a sweet little space traveller from MFT. Mission control - we have a finished card!

Happy stamping!

Stampin' Up Throwback

Hello again stampers,

AAA Cards have a one corner theme this week - with the optional twist of using older supplies. My Stampin' Up Papillon Potpourri set probably hasn't seen ink for at least a couple of years.  From memory SU released it about 7 years ago - it was one of the first clear rubber stamp sets they released:

I used some Color Bursts to create the splash of colour, added a corner honeycomb die cut and an older sentiment from PTI. It's always good to be reminded about the older sets in our stash isn't it?  Note to self: use them more!

Thanks for popping by,

Altenew Woes

Hello folks,

Here's a CAS card using CAS(E) This Sketch as inspiration and the colours from Colour Throwdown:

I've used Floral Motifs from Altenew - yet again I despair with my colouring of my Altenew blooms...I never feel like I do them justice!

Happy stamping!

Birthday Cheer

Hello fellow inkers,

I had an urge to colour a couple of days ago - whenever that happens this larger image from MFT's Happy Birth-yay always springs to mind.  I used the colours from their latest challenge and the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches:

I white embossed the grout grey card stock with Happy Birthday Background and added the sentiment along the side. It's also going over to Time Out's 'Inspired by Words' challenge 'it's your birthday, so party and throw acts of kindness around like confetti.' These little guys look like they're partying up a storm!

Happy stamping!

MFT Sketch Challenge + AAA Cards

Hello again,

Just a quick post. The weather's going from bad to worse here in Sydney, resulting in huge power cuts all over the city. We've been without power for over 24 hours now with no indication of when it will be back up and running. What's a girl to do then, but make a couple of cards;

I used Bring Out the Sunshine for the MFT card, inspired by their Wednesday Sketch.  The second card is for AAA's latest challenge, to only use up to one third with the colours from Colour Thowdown.  I was just going to have the stars peeping out in the top half of the card but it looked a bit boring like that so I put the white card stock at a slant to create a bit more interest. I still reckon it's only a third that's showing though!

Hope you have the time to get a bit inky this week - happy stamping!

Love is in the Air

Hello fellow inkers,

I've been avoiding cards with a 'love' theme like the plague in the last few weeks, simply because I have a whole heap of yet to be used Valentines cards and only one husband.  However, since that's the theme over at Paper Smooches for their latest challenge, it did give the excuse to colour the Love-struck set with matching dies:

I gave this sweet little baby angel some sparkly wings and a shiny heart on which to aim his bow. For the background I stamped Curls and Swirls but it looked a little too busy behind the stamped images so I also added a layer of white card stock to make it 'pop' a little more.

I'm also sending it over to Time Out's challenge - to create an 'affectionate' card for someone. Nothing says affection more than Valentines Day!

Happy stamping!

Happy Birthday Less Is More!

Hello bloggers!

Can you believe that Less is More are celebrating their 9th birthday? Their theme is even more 'less' than usual - to use as few tiny images and sentiments as possible:

I have to admit, I found this one quite difficult.  I ended up using the smallest flower from PTI's Doodlie-Do and a tiny sentiment from Mixed Messages . I added a small sprig of leaves and placed it against 3 small, postage stamp die cuts, partially matted on orange card stock. As usual, the simplest of cards took. me forever!

Happy stamping!

Freshly made Sketch #420

Hello and happy Monday to you!

I've been playing around with the sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches using the colours from Colour Throwdown:

I've used Waltzingmouse's Simple Sprig for the main image and stamped the same image on the background panel using Grout Grey Ink on Grout Grey card stock.  I love using matching inks and card stock as it looks subtle and doesn't overpower the card.  The sentiment is from Altenew and the stamped red circle around the die cut was a freebie I received recently from Winnie and Walter. I'd won a gift voucher and they threw in another stamp set for free as they were closing down - how nice is that!

Hope you get the time to get inky this week!
